CEO

Oie Osterkamp has a master’s degree in business and likes to say he “has his PhD in life” (you can read his three books to get an idea of what he means by that). He and two friends started an organizational development consulting company in Raleigh that soared to being ranked #7 in the Inc. 500 after just five years. After selling the company, he began to go on mission trips which led him to establish Sharefish.org, a non-profit that is breaking the cycle of poverty in rural villages in Honduras through education. While leading the growth of Sharefish, he started a private consulting practice that helped businesses build high performing teams. In February 2012 he gave up his consulting practice to become the Executive Director of the Ronald McDonald House of Durham. When he walked into the Ronald McDonald House for the first time and saw all the ceiling tiles that the children had decorated through the years, his heart sang and he knew that he had found what he was designed and built to do with his life. Inc. magazine ran a feature article about this called “From Success to Significance”. Under Oie’s “Top 5” vision of continuous improvement, the programs under his leadership have grown and include the Ronald McDonald Houses in Durham, in Chapel Hill, and at WakeMed Children’s Hospital in Raleigh, along with Ronald McDonald Family Rooms at Duke Children’s, WakeMed Children’s, and UNC Children’s hospitals. His organization, Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Triangle, is the 13th largest of 385 organizations around the world and is one of the most respected and emulated throughout Ronald McDonald House Charities. Oie has been honored to teach leadership principles to participants from 42 countries throughout his career, including being asked to be an adjunct professor for the Duke University Executive Certificate in Nonprofit Leadership program. Even with all this, Oie’s greatest and most satisfying accomplishment is when he can sit down to dinner with his wife and 15-year-old son at least 5 nights a week.   http://www.RMHCTriangle.org   http://www.Sharefish.org
